Progressives love to talk about sustainability. To be living a “sustainable” lifestyle, broadly defined as the capacity of a lifestyle or living environment to be sustained indefinitely, is one of the left’s highest virtues. It is the litmus test by which all good progressives judge their actions, and is reflected in their fondness for things like walking to work, recycling, and tending vegetable gardens. And yet, ironically, on a broader level, these people so concerned with sustainability actually practice a lifestyle and endorse politics that are the least sustainable in human history.

Sustainability is first and foremost about endurance: passing our country and culture on to the next generation. And yet progressives have promoted the abdication of the human universal of childbirth and parenthood on such a massive scale that in many European countries, the next generation will be halved. In Canada, because of our low birthrate, we are told that we must import a nation of replacements to contribute to our pension ponzi scheme and care for us in our old age. As in the United States, we are not just replacing our population, but actively growing it. With these and other considerations in mind, I put the following questions to progressives the world over:

-Is it sustainable to reduce one’s ethnicity from 96% of the population of our country to minority-status within two generations?

-Is it environmentally sustainable to not just replace our population, but grow it by 1.3% per year?

-Is it sustainable to house all of these new people on the 5% of Canadian land that is arable farmland?

-How is Canada going to reduce carbon emissions if we import 500,000 people per year whose biggest goal in life is to own a car and live in a detached house?

-Is it sustainable to support government policies which incentivise childbirth among the least intelligent and responsible citizens, while simultaneously disincentivising it among the smartest and most productive?

-Is it sustainable for a culture to glorify the weak, foreign, or grotesque?

The answer to all of the above is, of course, a resounding no.  The left is (has already?) destroying the West.  Their hypocrisy and cluelessness would be amusing if the consequences weren’t so dire.  They have taken a basically good idea (not destroying your living space, being wasteful, or using up all your resources at once) and inverted it, turning it into a status game with a bunch of meaningless actions to perform and items to buy that signify moral righteousness, enlightenment, and high status. They have become like Byzantine theologians, arguing about how many angels can fit on the head of a pin while the Turks mass at the city gates. Even worse, some of the theologians are openly fraternizing with the Turks and give them provisions, while others try to shame the guards into opening the gates and laying down their arms.

In reality, true sustainability, both environmental and cultural, is the rightful preserve of conservatives. It is the root word of our ideology, to conserve. We need to find a way to reclaim it.

Gross Domestic Product

Let’s start with GDP. Straightforward GDP information is surprisingly hard to find. It’s almost as if StatsCan and the Bank of Canada didn’t want the public checking into it. From the sources that I could find, it looks like Canada’s 2011 GDP growth was 2.4%.  Annual CPI inflation is up 2.3%.  Total real GDP growth: 0.1%.  WOOO That means we’re not in a recession!  Please disregard the opinions of the 70% of Canadians who say that it feels like we’re in a recession.  They are obviously unfamiliar with statistics.

Speaking of statistics, it looks like the bank of Canada is playing similar games with inflation that their big brother down South does. According to the StatsCan website:

The Bank of Canada’s core index excludes eight of the Consumer Price Index’s (CPI’s) most volatile components (fruit, fruit preparations and nuts; vegetables and vegetable preparations; mortgage interest cost; natural gas; fuel oil and other fuels; gasoline; inter-city transportation; and tobacco products and smokers’ supplies) as well as the effects of changes in indirect taxes on the remaining components.

There you go. If you discount the increases in price in two of the four food groups, your mortgage interest, heating your house, fueling your car, traveling, and buying smokes, and only look at the price increases of everything else, there isn’t really that much inflation.

Population Increase

Let us now look to population growth before we tie it all together with GDP per capita, which is a much more important metric of economic health and Canadian well-being than nominal GDP, the most popular yet also most useless yardstick for measuring growth.  Spoiler alert:  There is a reason that 70% of Canadians think we’re in a recession.

According to Statistics Canada:

On May 10, 2011, 33,476,688 people were enumerated in the census. This is almost twice as many as in 1961 and approximately 10 times as many as in the 1861 Census.

Between 2006 and 2011, Canada’s population grew by 5.9%, up slightly from the previous intercensal period (2001 to 2006), when it grew by 5.4%.

Canada’s population growth between 2006 and 2011 was the highest among G8 countries, as was the case in the previous intercensal period (2001 to 2006).

I’m always bitching about (the wrong kind of) population growth, so I’ll spare you guys my comments and skip right ahead to GDP per capita.   A very good economic report was released last month by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.  Titled “Canada’s Incomplete, Mediocre Recovery”, it does what Canada’s government and national media do not when reporting economic news. Namely, adjust for population growth when discussing employment growth and GDP. The whole report is worth a read (only 7 pages long – do it!), but I will repost the highlights below.  There is lots of copy and paste, but it is necessary to understand the following charts.

Canada’s population growth rate is faster than any other G7 economy, and nearly twice the OECD average. Strong population growth generates a certain underlying economic momentum (since growing population naturally stimulates certain ongoing growth in consumer spending and other variables). But it also sets a higher “bar” in order to maintain a steady-state economic standard: the economy must generate hundreds of thousands of new jobs each year, and billions of dollars in new GDP, just to maintain existing economic and labour market conditions. When Canadian officials boast that the pace of job-creation or GDP growth is relatively high, they neglect to mention that Canada’s economy must generate more growth and jobs, just to stand still.

This commentary will consider in turn the twin claims made repeatedly by Canadian political leaders: namely, that the damage done by the recession to our economy and labour market has now been repaired, and that Canada (thanks, presumably, to “prudent economic management”) has escaped the more negative circumstances experienced by other industrialized countries.  After adjusting for population growth, neither GDP nor employment growth since the recession has yet to recoup the ground lost during the 2008–09 downturn.  In the labour market, in particular, the pace of employment-creation has lagged far behind the pace of population growth; so that after adjusting for population growth, less than one-fifth of the damage done by the recession has been repaired. Moreover, labour market indicators have not improved since the spring of 2010, highlighting the stalling of the Canadian recovery since that time.

Canada’s economy (measured by real output) began to shrink in the third quarter of 2008, and declined close to 4 percent by summer 2009, when the official recession ended and real GDP began to recover. In per capita terms, however, the downturn began somewhat earlier: at the beginning of 2008, when slowing economic expansion began to lag behind ongoing population growth. Real per capita GDP then fell by over 5 percent by summer 2009. The decline in the per capita measure was worse than the fall in total GDP, because of the impact of ongoing population growth that continued even as the economy
was in recession.

As indicated in Figure 1, real per capita GDP has improved fairly steadily but slowly since mid-2009, with the exception
of the second quarter of 2011 when total GDP (and, of course, per capita GDP) declined. However, those 9 quarters (over
two years) of economic progress have repaired only about 70 percent of the reduction in real per capita GDP that occurred during the downturn. Real per capita GDP remains 1.4 percent lower as of the third quarter of 2011, than it was at the
beginning of 2008.

In fact, real per capita GDP is still lower in Canada than it was at the beginning of 2006 (when the Harper Conservative government first took power); during almost six years of Conservative “stewardship,” therefore, Canadians have experienced no economic progress (by this measure) whatsoever.

Put differently, real GDP declined by some $2100 per Canadian (measured in 2002 dollar terms) during the 9 months of the official recession. The subsequent 27 months of recovery
recouped some $1500 of that loss, leaving GDP per person $600 lower than before the recession. In fact, the lasting damage from the recession is considerably worse than that. It is normal for an economy to demonstrate rising real per capita output over time, as a result of technological improvements and productivity growth. The pre-recession trend in Canada was for real per capita GDP to increase by 1–1.5 percent per year. Trend potential output has thus continued to grow during the years of recession and subsequent slow recovery (as indicated in Figure 1). Relative to that potential, current real per capita GDP (of about $39,400 per person, in 2002 dollar terms) is at least 6 percent (or $3000) below the level it would have reached if the pre-recession trend had been sustained. In this regard, the fact that Canada’s economy continues to operate well below its potential costs each Canadian thousands of dollars in foregone income each year.

That’s why it feels like we’re still in a recession! Because GDP Per Capita is lower than it was 5 years ago! And when you factor in that all of these immigrants collectively use $23 billion more in social services than they pay in taxes each year (accounting for 2/3rds of last year’s federal budget deficit), as well as drive up housing costs, one can really start to emphasize with your average Johnny Canuck.

Unemployment

Unemployment last month was 7.6%. But as with GDP per capita, without looking at population growth, we don’t get the whole story.

Adjusting employment statistics for population growth results in an even starker comparison to pre-recession benchmarks. Because the potential labour force (represented by the working age population) grows by some 1.3 percent (or over
350,000 Canadians) each year, it is not enough for the Canadian economy to simply create new jobs. It must produce
enough new jobs to keep up with ongoing population growth.

Canada has to create 350,000 jobs per year just to keep flat unemployment! Think about that the next time you hear a politician bragging about how Canada created 300,000 jobs last year.

Debt to GDP:

Lastly, we arrive at our national debt and debt/GDP levels.  According to the Canada Debt Clock, our total debt as of going to press is approximately 580,862,000,000. $580 billion. Our debt to GDP ratio is 84%. For comparison’s sake, recently downgraded economic basketcase Spain boasts a very similar GDP to ours (1.4 trillion vs 1.5) but with a debt to GDP level of only 61%. Portugal and Ireland are only 10% higher than us, and Slovakia, Slovenia, and Malta, who were all downgraded yesterday by Moody’s, have comparatively good looking debt to GDP ratios of 41%, 39%, and 69%. What is keeping the bond vigilantes from hammering Canada? The fact that there are crappier countries out there? If that’s the only thing keeping us a AAA, then Canada has a long way to fall, and I’m sure somebody will realize that eventually.

On Friday, the Alberta Human Rights Commission ordered Alberta pastor Stephen Boissoin to desist from expressing his views on homosexuality in any sort of public forum. He was also commanded to pay damages equivalent to $7,000 as a result of the tribunal’s November decision to side with complainant and homosexual activist Dr. Darren Lund. The tribunal has also called for Boissoin to personally apologize to Lund via a public statement in the local newspaper.

Boissoin was first hauled before the Human Rights Commission to answer to a complaint filed by Lund, an assistant professor at the University of Calgary. Lund made his complaint after Boissoin published a letter to the editor in the Red Deer Advocate, in which he denounced homosexuality as immoral and dangerous, and called into question new gay-rights curricula permeating the province’s educational system.

However, after being bombarded for the past few months with pictures of Chaz Bono on the covers of entertainment magazines in the grocery store checkout line, I feel like I need to say something from the totally non-hateful point of view of disinterested science as it pertains to sex changes. It strikes me that if somebody was born into the body of a woman, but thinks they are a man, or vice versa, that that is an issue of software rather than hardware, pardon the pun. That is, the problem lies in what they think. Much as if I was born a human but thought I was a bird. Would anybody think it was normal if I had feathers grafted to my arms and attempted to lay eggs? Or would they send me to a shrink? But the clear logic of that statement is inverted when genders are involved.

Whoever counseled the normal, relatively feminine looking Chastity Bono to undergo hormone therapy and mutilate her genitals in order to become Chaz Bono, who can generously be described as resembling a fat trucker (my apologies to fat truckers everywhere), is using her/him/it to pursue an agenda and is not a good friend.

Today’s example: Hard drug use.

The group that runs Insite says there is a clear need for a second supervised injection site in Vancouver.

Mark Townsend of the Portland Hotel Society (PHS) — which operates North America’s first supervised injection site — says with more than 12,000 registered users and 800 injections a day, the initial location in the drug-riddled Hastings Street corridor is becoming overcrowded.

“I think there needs to be another one, for sure,” Townsend said on Sunday. “The one facility is tiny in a big, big city. So clearly, you would have to have others.”

If you build it, they will come. According to Wikipedia, in 2000, the Downtown Eastside (the neighbourhood in Vancouver where nearly all hard drug activity takes place), there were 4700 chronic drug users. In 2009, Insite was visted by 5447 unique users. According to Insite’s website,in 2010, 12,236 unique individuals visited the site. So somebody’s statistics don’t add up. Nevertheless, a clear growth trend is there. Especially since I’m sure that many of the 4700 drug users from 2000 are not the same ones as the 5400 (or 12,000!) today.

The Conservative government has tried to shut the site down since about 2006, but in 2011, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled unanimously to keep the site open. The site’s biggest backers, from the Provincial Health Authority to social activists on down to smug progressive civilians, people who have probably never even smoked a joint, let alone injected heroin, are arguing to let these people continue their hellish existence.  As responsible members of society, we really only have two options in dealing with those addicted to hard drugs; Let them continue using them on the street until they meet their maker, or institutionalize them.   As many of these addicts are mentally ill to begin with and are self-medicating, I would opt to go the institutionalization route.  They didn’t start using heroin because they liked to party, though many others did.  Giving any of these people a “safe” space to do drugs and then releasing them on their own recognizance to beg, steal, or prostitute themselves to earn their next fix doesn’t help them or us one bit.  Resuscitating them when they overdose is probably the most inhumane thing of all; to drag them back into the world they seem so desperate to escape.  Depending on the year and the source, Insite boasts of intervening in 2-500 overdoses per year, with no fatalities.

Part of the problem.

They do offer a detox center on site, but it is voluntary, and you literally have to walk past all the drug couches and free drug paraphernalia (cookers, tourniquets, etc) to get there.

This belief that “moral” equals good vibes, non-judgement, and indulgence  needs to stop.   “Moral” means doing what is best for someone, and that often entails saying “no”.  Toddlers want to eat candy all the time.  Is it moral to give them only candy, and hope that they’ll take notice of the pureed carrots you are also offering and eat them of their own volition?   Liberals think so.

RCMP have arrested and charged a B.C. woman and her brother in the murder of her daughter 11 years ago in India.

Malkit Kaur Sidhu, 63, and her brother Surjit Singh Badesha, 67, both residents of the Vancouver suburb of Maple Ridge, were arrested on Friday, said B.C. RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Annie Linteau.

To be fair, it was only conspiracy to honour kill. The actual killing was carried out by hired hands.

Police believe Sidhu, a beautician who came from a wealthy family, was kidnapped, tortured and had her throat slit by contracted killers because her family objected to her secretly marrying Mithu, a poor auto-rickshaw driver.

Nevertheless, the mind reels at this sort of thing, and two questions immediately spring to mind: Firstly, what kind of monster would do such a thing?  And secondly (I’m sure you all know where I’m going with this), why are we so keen to let such barbarous cultures colonize Canada?

Though this crime may be 10 years old (it took 10 years to build a case for some reason), honour killings are apparently on the rise in Canada.  According to this Vancouver Sun article, as of 2010, there have been 13 honour killings since 2002.   13 isn’t that many, and is only a fraction of the 5000 worldwide annually, but it’s a lot more than zero.

On June 16, the father and brother of a slain Mississauga, Ont., teen were sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the December 2007 murder of Aqsa Parvez, a 16-year-old girl of Pakistani descent who wanted to wear western clothes and get a part-time job like her Canadian peers.

Days ago, an Afghan mother was arrested in Montreal, accused of stabbing her 19-year-old daughter after she stayed out all night in a case that’s now being probed as a possible honour crime.

 

This is how thin-skinned muslims are.  At least the East Indian Sikhs killed their daughter because she married the wrong guy.   These muslims murder their own children and sisters because they want to wear pants, get part-time jobs, and go to parties.   Look, I get it that you guys hate Western decadence.  I do too (sort of).   Buuuuut why would you go to such massive effort to move to a country whose values you despise, and then kill your children for trying to assimilate?  It just doesn’t make sense.  Some of the local culture is bound to rub off on them.   Did you really just move to Canada to take advantage of our indoor plumbing and generous welfare system, and expect to otherwise live as you did back home?   It never works that way.  Newcomers always assimilate.  Unless there are so many of them that they swamp the local culture and take over the country.  Oh.  Uh oh.

The Sun article was quick to point out that Christians (have) engage(d) in honour killings as well, which I don’t believe for a minute.  Has anybody heard of an honour killing in European history?  I doubt that even in the darkest of the Dark Ages did they do it.   Googling “European honour killing” brings up scores of articles about muslims in Europe.  The Wikipedia entry on honour killing as it pertains to Europe and Christianity cites a Shakespeare play as proof, as well as Roman law which states that an adulterous wife may be put to death by her husband, which is somewhat different.

Rather, the European/Christian method of dealing with cultural betrayal has always been shunning.  Daughters (and sons) did, and still do, disappoint.  It is perfectly reasonable to turn your back on somebody who has turned their back on you.  Shunning enforces community mores in a humane manner.   Look at how Amish culture has endured in America for hundreds of years.  It is too bad that outside of the Amish, shunning today is only reserved for “racists”.

I am fairly conservative on matters of race.  But whenever I bring the subject up in conversation, people inevitably call me a Nazi.  When I read about racial issues in the paper, I see that word again.  So, if self-proclaimed Nazis like yourself and I share such beliefs, why then do I not consider myself one of you?

Short answer: Because I’m Canadian and the year is 2011.

Long answer: For starters, why do I even need to bring this up?  The vast majority of the nationalist right, and especially its intellectual arm, has moved way beyond the kneejerk neo-nazism of the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s, and anybody who has been involved in right wing politics online for any amount of time knows that this topic has been done to death.  But apparently, some people didn’t get the memo.

Assault Charges for men Alleged to be White Supremacists

Two B.C. men who allegedly belong to a white supremacist group have been charged with assault against members of visible minorities in incidents dating back to 2008.

Robert de Chazal, 25, of Vancouver and Shawn MacDonald of the Lower Mainland allegedly belong to an international neo-Nazi group called Blood and Honour, said Const. Terry Wilson of the B.C. Hate Crime Team.

Yeah, yeah, we have a hate crime team that only investigates white-on nonwhite crime, but just ignore that for now.  The real story is what these idiots, who are supposedly politically-involved nationalists, were up to.

In October 2009, de Chazal, with two other people, allegedly lit a Filipino man on fire.

The 25-year-old victim had been sleeping on a discarded couch near Commercial Drive and 5th Avenue. The three men fled the scene and the victim received burns to his arms, neck and head.

I actually laughed when I read this, mostly out of incredulity.  This is how Aryan warriors fight back against the system?  By lighting some poor guy having a nap on fire?  Even distributing flyers with those embarrassingly bad racist cartoons on them would be better than this.

This guy thanks you for helping further his agenda.

The bottom line is that that Skinheads are still in our midst, and that movement can no longer be considered a laudable, if misguided, calling for our hard-done-by working class.   It has officially graduated to liability.

The B.C. chapter of Blood and Honour has up to 15 members, most of whom are based in the Lower Mainland, Wilson said.

15 members!   An entire political movement discredited by 15 guys in tight pants and army boots.   They couldn’t make us look worse if they were all undercover RCMP agents provocateurs!  Literally!  From The Canadian Press:

A section of Canada’s human-rights code that protects against hate speech on the Internet is under attack on two fronts just as three accused neo-Nazis in B.C. face charges of vicious, racist assaults.

An appeal got underway in Federal Court in Toronto this week scrutinizing Section 13 of the Human Rights Act, which says it’s discriminatory to spread hate messages online.

The case pits human-rights advocates against defenders of free expression.

…But those who keep an eye on incidents of hate and the so-called white- pride movement are worried if those provisions of the act are killed, Canada could see more incidents like the setting on fire of a Filipino man on a Vancouver street.

There is a time and a place for violence, and we’ll know it when we see it, but it is not here and now.

Meanwhile, federal Tories are seeking to kill the provision via a private member’s bill in the House of Commons.

The ballot box still works.  While the Tories are busy pursuing their big government neo-conservatism, they are quietly throwing very important bones to socially conservative segments of their base.  Namely, repealing hate speech laws and the gun registry.  The only thing that could ruin any of this is if some slap-dick did something stupid.  Something like, oh say, LIGHTING A SLEEPING MAN ON FIRE.

Not only are the actions of these skinheads dumb, their entire schtick is dumb.  White Pride.  Really?  You’re proud to be white?  How would the casual observer tell, besides your habit of plastering the logo all over everything you wear?  You eschew Western high culture to listen to some of the worst music imaginable.  You cover your white skin with tattoos, and shave off your pretty blonde hair.

Drama, douchebags, tattoos, shitty clothes. This is like Jersey Shore for white people!

One of the things that the Nazis did get right, and that modern skinheads completely ignore, is aesthetics and culture.  All segments of society were clean cut and immersed in (varying degrees of) high culture.  Even the degenerates of the day listened to classic jazz.  If these bozos really wanted to stand up to the degeneracy and mediocrity  of the modern world, they would clean up their image and cultivate an interest in the classics.  Not wallow in the gutter like the people they hate.

What a difference! Talk about Übermenschen.

So we have ascertained that skinheads don’t care for the ww2 German aesthetic.  My followup question would then be: why National Socialism?   You’re Canadian (If you are an American Nazi, this applies to you too)!  There is no group more respected in Canada than military veterans.  And just about every white Canadian living; the people who vote and donate money to political parties; the people whose favour you want to curry; have at least one relative who fought the Germans.  Sure, most Canadians are “sheeple”.  But they’re sheeple who vote, and you couldn’t have picked a less appealing group to align our movement with.  If you actually like the politics of National Socialism, did you know that Canada and England had an ideology called Red Toryism that is quite similar?   It is nationalistic and capitalistic, allowing for both upper class privilege (with responsibility) and an honest living for the working classes.  The American Third Position in the States is also quite similar, with the added bonus that it is explicitly pro-white.   Look at pictures from their meetups.  Normal people.  If you actually do like the Nazi aesthetic, why not get married and have kids?  Nothing pisses off hardcore leftists more than a pair of “breeders” with a bunch of blue-eyed babies whom they indoctrinate with conservative values.  And when you do have those kids, try not to name them things like “Hitlerina”, or draw swastikas on their arm and then send them to school .  The government will take them away and you’ll have to start all over.

Did you know that Canada was actually a comparative white nationalist paradise before the Germans ruined everything for everybody?  Before world war 2, only white Canadians could vote.  In Vancouver, Chinese people couldn’t use public swimming pools.  We had everything but separate water fountains.  We probably even had those too.

It feels funny to write this letter, as I haven’t actually seen a Nazi in the wild since about 2002  (and true to form, he was later seen leaving the bar and decking an innocent stranger, sending him to hospital).  But as we have seen, they’re out there, emerging every now again again to save the Dominion from napping Filipinos.  In order to not be a total dick, I will say this:  One thing you guys do right is activism.  Actually, let me rephrase that.  Your activism sucks.  However, you are willing to show your faces, operate under your real names, and endure ridicule and threats, and I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that it’s because you truly believe in this cause, and not because you are a bunch of misfits who get off on shocking people.  Your willingness to get out there and mingle could be a great benefit to us.  In part 2 of my letter, I will outline some basic marketing principles as they pertain to our politics, and provide you with a hard-hitting, factual, and most importantly, inoffensive flyer that is guaranteed to win the hearts and minds of Suburbia.  14/88!

Vancouver sewer and water utility rates to increase in 2012

Vancouver city council approved recommendations Tuesday (December 13) that will see rates for water and sewer services increase by almost 10 percent in 2012.

The increase to sewer and water rates, as well as a 5.7 percent increase in garbage disposal fees, will add up to about $81 a year for the average household, according to city staff.

Mayor Gregor Robertson said the rate increases translate to a “long-term investment” to maintain infrastructure into the future and to fund upgrades like the separation of storm water and sewer lines.

“Past councils”?  You mean the past council of which you are the incumbent Mayor, Gregor?  I guess removing lanes from major downtown arteries and making them bike-only was as far as you could go in one term.  Jacking up people’s utilities less than a month after re-election is much smarter than doing it one month before.

Council also voted Tuesday to require new houses and homes that have undergone major renovations to install water metres.

During a presentation to council, city engineer Peter Judd described Vancouver residents as “water hogs”, who consume roughly a third more water than the city of Seattle.

This is the language of communism; of engineered scarcity.  Vancouver is one of the wettest municipalities on Earth.  It is our God-given right as Vancouverites to use as much water as we want, as it is naturally replenished every year into our watershed.  If even we need to ration water, do you think that is a sign that there are limits to how large of a population an urban area can comfortably hold?

As for the “water hogs” comment, it combines the left’s love of shaming language with factual misrepresentations.  We may use 30% more water than Seattleites, but we also get 20% more rainfall per year then they do, making our excess usage a mere 10% higher.  But even  that extra 10% used to be perfectly manageable.  Maybe this apparatchik should tell city hall that we’ve reached our breaking point population-wise, not acquiesce to population increases and then chastise Vancouverites for their previously normal levels of water consumption.

This is very similar to the stance of environmentalists in general.  They want Canada to return to our carbon output of 1990, when we had 6.3 million (20%) fewer people.  They want to keep carbon output rates locked there, even as we increase our population 1% per year through immigration.  Continue cramming people into the country while simultaneously forcing us to de-industrialize by 20%, then 1% per year per capita thereafter.  What’s not to love!?

Edit: Along these similar lines, City Hall passed a law a few years ago that new houses in Vancouver couldn’t have wood-burning chimneys, on account of the carbon output.  Tens of thousands of new residents?  No problem.  But now nobody can have fires because we have to keep carbon output lower per capita.

Couple Arrested for Copulating on Subway Platform at 2:30 in the Afternoon

When the young man and woman began making love on a southbound University line coach around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a disgusted passenger pressed the yellow emergency strip.

After the train’s guard finished putting the brakes to their tryst, the apparently drunken pair moved onto the Spadina station platform and continued their randy ritual on the tile floor — with the man’s naked bottom and her naked legs caught on video by a passerby…

This is straight out of Gin Lane.  I mean, I can understand a bathroom stall, or even the bushes outside.  Desperate times and all that.  But a subway car?  And then the platform?  At 2:30 in the afternoon?  And on the Lord’s day no less!

But whatever.  It’s the 21st century.  Get off your Victorian high horse and quit judging people.

British woman arrested after racist tirade on train goes viral

If the fact that being racist is simply wrong doesn’t hold you back from spouting off, here’s another reason you should change your ways: camera phones.

According to news reports, British police have arrested a 34-year-old woman from New Addington today based on suspicion of a racially motivated verbal attack on other train passengers on the Croydon to Wimbledon service in south London.

British Transport Police received the video after it was uploaded to YouTube (after which, of course, it promptly went viral).

In the video, an angry woman lets loose a racist barrage of expletives about black, Polish, and other visible minorities being in the country and not being English. She engages in arguments with other passengers, who are of various ethnic backgrounds.

What’s also disturbing is that throughout the two-and-a-half minute tirade, she holds a small boy on her lap.

Before we jump to the video, note the editorializing. This story comes from the Georgia Straight, Vancouver’s free arts and entertainment magazine, and unofficial publicity arm of the Comintern (San Francisco branch).  So what you are seeing is cutting-edge leftist thought from Canada’s most left wing city.  Now for the video:

To be honest, I found the whole thing to be in poor taste; the public cursing, the incoherent rage and the setting.  As if the black woman she’s yelling at is actually going to pack up and go back to Africa, or even feel unwelcome in England.   She is probably feeling very smug at the thought of a whole train car shouting down a bigot.  At least a gang of Russian skinheads will make someone think twice about living in Moscow.    I am also not going to talk about her arrest.  That is par for the course in England these days, disgraceful though it is.

What I really found shocking was when I waded into the comment section of the article.  Now, I normally just skim the comments to get a feeling for what the readership thinks, but what I found was so unsettling that it bears repeating.

The first and hightest-voted comment was also fairly incoherent and hinted at violence.

“Big Brother” chimes in with a worried message about her arrest and our freedoms:

Take a big step back, folks, and try to understand the implications of that.

I utterly disagree with ‘Big Brother’. The fact is, being verbally abusive and threatening is absolutely a criminal offence and with good reason; it undermines our fundamental rights to a civilised and peaceful existence. It is one thing to hold an opinion and express is in an intelligent manner at an appropriate occasion/forum. It is entirely another to be abusive, ignorant, inappropriate and vile. The woman is probably so ridiculously stupid that she is blissfully unaware that her grotesque racism utterly undermines her point of view. That poor child she is holding should be taken into care, she should be punished and be held up as an example for others who, whatever their beliefs, believe it is acceptable to behave in such an antisocial value in public. The same people that call Vancouver “Coast Salish Territory” condemn this woman for fighting for the survival of the indigenous people of England.  Hypocrites.

Bingo.  Her diatribe was Anti-Colonialism 101 stuff.  If she were in the Middle East railing against American imperialism, she would be feted as the next Rosa Parks.  But where was the sympathy from all these leftists?  Where was their acknowledgement that the English people have “the right of self-determination.  By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.” per article 1 of the UN charter?  It wasn’t there, because she is from a traditionally white country.

Leftists have abandoned all of their founding principles as they pertain to the cause of economic equality in favour of pushing the immigrant project, which is basically the reverse colonization of the West by Third Worlders.   Immigration increases inequality within a population, due to the growth of the low wage-earning percentage of the population.   Most immigrants also undercut the wages of the former middle-wage earning class, further increasing the ranks of the unemployed/low paid.   They then make ample use of the host’s generous social benefits, the costs of which are borne by the middle and lower-upper class taxpayers.   In Canada last year, immigrants paid $23 billion less in taxes than they used in social services.  Coincidentally, that number is very similar to our federal budget deficit, which the government is scratching their collective head trying to figure out how to eliminate.

What I find most humourous about the Left’s defense of immigration is how nicely it plays into the hands of large corporations.  Where is their famed “Occupy Vancouver” bravado when you point out that it is corporations who benefit from the surplus supply of labour, as well as the constant growth in consumption and (nominal) GDP that we believe our economy requires.  Where are the Leftists who rail about “corporate greed destroying the environment” when it pertains to the Alberta Tar Sands, but who turn a blind eye to the fact that population growth through immigration increases Canada’s carbon emissions by 1% per year?  Just look at this doofus. People like him are an extremely common sight here in Vancouver:

Do you suppose that he has given any thought at all as to why Vancouver is so unaffordable? Why we are turning our arable land in the suburbs into condos and strip malls?  It probably has something to do with all those financial parasites who park their money in tax havens instead of generously offering 48% of it up to fill federal coffers.  It couldn’t have anything to do with the extra 1.2 million people who have moved to the city since 1980, right?

The Left has ceded both the moral and intellectual high ground on this issue.  It is time to reclaim it fully.  Everything that Emma West said (“you’re not British”, “you should return to your home country”, “Britain is ruined”) is intellectually defensible, and if you phrase it right, you can even say it without getting arrested or punched in the face.

At best, Leftists are like the guy in the picture above: well intentioned but completely oblivious.  His ideological cousin is the nice white lady who goes on mission trips and wants to bring all the Africans back with her because they are so adorable.  At worst, Leftists are statist thugs who are simply using immigrants as a cudgel to further their war against the traditional European nation state.  Don’t let these people sidetrack legitimate debate by calling you names.  They are the true racists.
